Emotional Intelligence: Livin' Life Like Vegas

"Know when I'm lyin', know when I'm cryin', It's like you got it, down to a science"
Nicki Minaj

Daniel Goleman is brilliant and fortunately he has shared is brilliance with the masses. "Emotional Intelligence: Why it can matter more than IQ", authored by Dr. Goleman is a virtual blueprint to success. Dr. Goleman is a co-founder of The Collaborative for Academic, Social and Emotional Learning at the Yale University Child Studies Center (currently at the University of Illinois at Chicago). Twelve of his books published, with "Emotional Intelligence" being his first international best seller (...and with good reason).

"Emotional Intelligence" outlines four main concepts that should be mastered.
1) Self-awareness, 2) Self-management, 3) Social awareness and 4) Relationship management. The limitations of IQ have already been firmly established (IQ is only relatively important in the equation for success). EI is the other, more dominant part of the equation. EI speaks to man's abilities to navigate the human experience to optimum effect. Why do those who seem less intelligent than us seem to make it so far in life (i.e. George Bush)? Dr. Goleman has provided us with the answer.

Emotional Intelligence maps out the winning equation. "Winners do what they want, losers do what they can" - Oz

Fit For A King... it ain't for everybody

"Why not go out on a limb? Isn't that where the fruit is?"
Frank Scully

The palate will open a door to adventure. Bravery IS required and taste IS required. Durian is a special kind of adventure all on its own. Native to southeast Asia, it is known as the "King of Fruits." A kingly level of bravery is required for this journey. Durian is not for the faint of heart. The taste is... a sweet custardy stroll to exotica (...absolutely bedeviling). The odor however.... is a cross between a garbage land fill and gasoline. Some have compared the scent to that of gym socks and rotten onions, in any case, it can be overwhelming to the weak at heart. (It's actually illegal to carry the fruit in certain public places in Singapore.)

As with life, it isn't about the destination, it's about the journey (the adventure!!!). Durian presents a formidable challenge but the reward is sweet (very sweet). So the challenge is simple... if you choose to accept it. Battles through challenges of the Durian's odor and nature will reward you well...(I promise)
