Have you ever dreamed or thought of yourself as a James Bond-like character? Do you consider yourself a smooth talking lady's man? Are you daring and / or fearless to a fault? Do you admire Richard Branson? (Richard Branson fans get it)
If you can answer yes to any of these questions, then there is no doubt that you've come to admire the Euro RSCG ad campaign for the Cuauhtémoc Moctezuma Brewery product Dos Equis. The ads feature Jonathan Goldsmith in the lead role and are narrated by Will Lyman. The ads began appearing in the US in 2006.
The ad campaign speaks loudly to the person many of us desire to be. Jonathan Goldsmith emits such a cool aura of confidence. If you don't desire to be him then you at least wish you knew someone like him. He is the representation of a life well lived (taken to comical extremes).
With its wide array of irresistible one liners such as...
"He can speak French... in Russian."
"His personality is so magnetic, he is unable to carry credit cards."
"He once had an awkward moment, just to see how it felt."
"His charm is so contagious, vaccines have been created for it."
"Alien abductors have asked him to probe them."
"Bulls flat out refuse to fight him."
"His reputation is expanding faster than the universe."
"The police often question him just because they find him interesting."
...the ads possess a level of arrogance that is so disarming, it renders you paralyzed.
"His blood smells like cologne" - You can't deny this guy.
"He never says something tastes like chicken... even chicken" - language is such a beautiful thing.
"People hang on his every word... even the prepositions" - he's got game.
"We don't always drink beer, but when We do, We prefer Dos Equis."
"Stay thirsty, my friends."

What's in a name....?
"Have regard for your name, since it will remain for you longer than a great store of gold."
Ecclesiasticus, Aprocrypha (Ec. 41:12)
When we, The Sophistiques, decided to launch a blog, we knew it would be imperative to come up with a name that was both descriptive and gripping. We went back and forth for the better part of a week, before landing on "The Sophisiques with Mo'Tour Detail". We sought the advice of family, friends, associates, enemies, haters, etc. We desired a large amount of varied opinions. Since we are the community lifestyle blog, we wanted to involve the community. We promote the conversation. (From the very outset).
Some of the name that came down the pipeline:
"The Boiler Room Fiasco: the Mo-Tour Scheme" - slightly random
"The Swag Commander: a Mo-tour Way of Living" - the word "Swag" has become a little bastardized, although I still love it.
"The Idiosyncratic Oath: the Mo-Tour Verses" - Uummm...NO!
"Savoir-faire: The Mo-Tour Sphere" - Didn't quite work
"Dernier Cri: The Mo-Tour World" - Too French. (But we like French)
"The Sophisticate: A Mo-Tour Operative" - We're getting warm
"The Sophisticate: Mo-Tour Definition" We're getting hot
The Go Daddy prices and availability for the would-be domain names...
www.sophisticate.com = TAKEN
www.thesophisticate.com = $2,488.00 (Ahem, Moving right along...)
We landed on www.thesophistiques.com. We think it's a good URL. The word "Detail", speaks to our attention to the smallest things. The attention to detail is what we love and we know you'll appreciate.
